He participated in the assault on Amritsar resulting in the capture of the Bha&#7749g&#299 tower situated between the R&#257mb&#257<u>gh</u> and Ch&#257&#7789&#299vi&#7751&#7693 gates. After the conquest of northern parts of Gujr&#257&#7749w&#257l&#257 district by Cha&#7771hat Si&#7749gh, Waz&#299r&#257b&#257d was claimed by Gurba<u>kh</u>sh Si&#7749gh. Gurba<u>kh</u>sh Si&#7749gh married his daughter, Des&#257&#7749, to Cha&#7771hat Si&#7749gh, his leader, and gained further influence by this matrimonial alliance.
