The manuscript, preserved in the Pañj&#257b University Library, Cha&#7751&#7693&#299ga&#7771h, under accession No. 1176, is of anonymous authorship. The date of its composition is also not known. The condition of the paper, the formation of the letters and the style of writing point to a comparatively recent date. The manuscript comprises 135 folios, each folio having 30 (fifteen + fifteen) lines. Chaupa&#299 and dohir&#257 are the metres most commonly used, with occasional interspersing of pau&#7771&#299, ras&#257val nish&#257n&#299 and nar&#257j.

The contents of the Gurbil&#257s are almost identical with those of the other Gurbil&#257s, commonly attributed to Kav&#299 Sohan. There are many dates given in the text but most of them do not tally with those commonly accepted in the Sikh tradition. The author nowhere refers to the works he relied upon, though he does state that Gur&#363 Hargobind's life had been presented before him in great detail and that he was narrating it only in brief. The entire volume is divided into several parts, each part dealing with some important episode from the Gur&#363's life.

Dharam Si&#7749gh
