The Sikh general, Har&#299 Si&#7749gh Nalv&#257 appointed him to take charge of Mi&#7789&#7789h&#257 Tiw&#257&#7751&#257, country in the upper regions of the Sindh S&#257gar Do&#257b. On being implicated in the assassination of R&#257j&#257 Dhi&#257n Si&#7749gh in September 1843, Fateh <u>Kh</u>&#257n fled to &#7692er&#257 Ism&#257'&#299I <u>Kh</u>&#257n and raised the standard of revolt. When in 1844 D&#299w&#257n Lakkh&#299 Mall was sent from Lahore to punish him, Fateh <u>Kh</u>&#257n took shelter in the fort of &#7788onk, but was forced to flee. He remained in hiding in the trans-Indus territory. Later, he was implicated in the murder of Ka&#7749var Pashaur&#257 Si&#7749gh. After the first Anglo-Sikh war, Fateh <u>Kh</u>&#257n &#7788iw&#257&#7751&#257 became the governor of Bann&#363. In November 1848, Herbert Edwardes sent him to suppress Sikh disturbances.
