As he was travelling in those parts, the Gur&#363 was invited by the inhabitants to visit their village. By this they wished to expiate a misdemeanour they had committed. Gur&#363 Tegh Bah&#257dur accepted their invitation and gave them his blessing. The villagers constructed a platform to commemorate his visit. A Mañj&#299 S&#257hib was raised on the site in 1923 by Sikhs from the neighbouring villages, there being no Sikh families in &#7692u&#7693&#7693h&#299 itself. The marble-floored Mañj&#299 S&#257hib now stands within a spacious hall and has a domed pavilion above it. A lone granth&#299, custodian, looks after the shrine. Devotees from the neighbourhood gather in large numbers on the first of each Bikram&#299 month when k&#299rtan and community meals take place. A largely attended annual fair is held on 20 M&#257gh (early February).

Major Gurmukh Si&#7749gh (Retd.)
