<p class="C1">&#65279D&#298V&#256N SI&#7748GH R&#256MGA&#7770H&#298&#256 (d. 1834), soldier and <i>j&#257g&#299rd&#257r</i> in Sikh times, was son of T&#257r&#257 Si&#7749gh (d. 1759) and nephew of Jass&#257 Si&#7749gh (d. 1800), the famous R&#257mga&#7771h&#299&#257 Sard&#257r. As a young man he built for himself a fort near Q&#257d&#299&#257&#7749 and named it &#7788h&#257karga&#7771h. With a garrison of 1400 horsemen, he fixed his residence in it. When on the death in 1816 of his cousin, Jodh Si&#7749gh, there was a dispute about the family estate and Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Ra&#7751j&#299t Si&#7749gh tried to intervene, he fled to Pa&#7789i&#257l&#257. He met with a friendly reception there, but was forced to leave the city. Eventually, he submitted to Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Ra&#7751j&#299t Si&#7749gh and was granted a handsome <i>j&#257g&#299r</i>. He was sent in command of about 1, 000 men to B&#257r&#257m&#363l&#257 cantonment in Kashm&#299r, a difficult hill post on the road to Sr&#299nagar. He remained on duty in B&#257r&#257m&#363l&#257 cantonment until he died in 1834.</p>
