He was a prominent Sikh of his time and was in the train of Gur&#363 Te<u>gh</u> Bah&#257dur during his journey across the eastern parts in 1665-70. He was one of the Sikhs detained and later released by the Mu<u>gh</u>al rulers in 1665. As the Gur&#363 proceeded further east from Pa&#7789n&#257, Di&#257l D&#257s was left behind to look after the Gur&#363's family. Several epistles addressed by Gur&#363 Te<u>gh</u> Bah&#257dur to <i>sa&#7749gats</i> in V&#257r&#257&#7751as&#299-Pa&#7789n&#257 area adjured them to abide by Bh&#257&#299 Di&#257l D&#257s's directions. Bh&#257&#299 Di&#257l D&#257s accompanied Gur&#363 Te<u>gh</u> Bah&#257dur when the latter left Anandpur on 11 July 1675 to court martyrdom.
