According to tradition, Gur&#363 Te<u>gh</u> Bah&#257dur riding from Ha&#7693i&#257y&#257 to Dhaul&#257 arrived at the boundary between the two villages when his horse suddenly stopped. No amount of coaxing or spurring could make him go forward and enter the fields of Dhaul&#257. The Gur&#363 explained to the Sikhs in his train that the Dh&#257l&#299v&#257ls of Dhaul&#257 were not yet ready to receive him. "They will come round in time, " he remarked. He then turned west and arrived at the <i>&#7693h&#257b</i>, or pond, of Soh&#299v&#257l where he made his ablutions.</p> <p class="C1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;GURDW&#256R&#256 A&#7770&#298SAR, 2 km north of Dhaul&#257 by a sandy cart track, marks the spot where the Gur&#363's horse had stubbornly stopped (a&#7771&#299 in Punjabi means an act of stubbornness). The Gurdw&#257r&#257 comprises a 5-metre square sanctum and a suite of rooms for the <i>granth&#299</i>. It is affiliated to the Shiroma&#7751&#299 Gurdw&#257r&#257 Parbandhak Committee and is administered by the manager of Gurdw&#257r&#257 Gur&#363 Sar Pakk&#257 at Ha&#7693i&#257y&#257. Special <i>d&#299v&#257ns</i> take place on the full-moon day every month.</p> <p class="C1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;GURDW&#256R&#256 S&#256HIB P&#256TSH&#256H&#298 NAUM&#298 SOH&#298V&#256L, locally called Soh&#299&#257&#7751&#257 S&#257hib, stands on a low mound. It consists of a memorial platform on the first floor of a domed building. The Gur&#363 Granth S&#257hib is seated in a hall near by. The old <i>&#7693h&#257b</i> has been lined and converted into a <i>sarovar</i>, holy tank.
