<p class="C1">&#65279DHARAM SI&#7748GH, a Ja&#7789&#7789 Sikh of the village of Chi&#7789&#7789&#299, 15 km southwest of Jalandhar in the Punjab, was one of the associates of Bh&#257&#299 Mah&#257r&#257j Si&#7749gh (d. 1856), leader of anti-British revolt in the Punjab during 1848-49. Dharam Si&#7749gh assisted Bh&#257&#299 Mah&#257r&#257j Si&#7749gh by mobilizing help for him in the Do&#257b&#257 region during the latter half of 1849. He especially introduced two artillerymen of Kap&#363rthal&#257 to Bh&#257&#299 Mah&#257r&#257j Si&#7749gh, in Hoshi&#257rpur area. He was arrested along with Mah&#257r&#257j Si&#7749gh on the night of 28-29 December 1849, but managed to escape. However, he was rearrested at Waz&#299r&#257b&#257d in Gujr&#257&#7749w&#257l&#257 district and was held in custody in Lahore jail.</p>
