As he came to see him, the Gur&#363 asked him why he carried a walking stick in his quiver. Des&#363 replied that although he was a Hindu by birth, he was a follower of Sult&#257n Sakh&#299 Sarwar, and carried the stick as an emblem of that faith. According to M&#257lv&#257 Desh Ra&#7789an d&#299 S&#257kh&#299 Poth&#299, the Gur&#363 gave Des&#363 five arrows from his quiver and said that if he kept these with him he should prosper and want nothing. Des&#363 discarded the Sult&#257n&#299 stick. Des&#363's wife broke and burnt the arrows given by the Gur&#363. This, it is said, brought a curse on his house and his son and grandson perished at the hands of his enemies and his direct line came to an end.

BIBLIOGRAPHY

M&#257lv&#257 Desh Ra&#7789an d&#299 S&#257kh&#299 Poth&#299.
