Anthologies styled Das Granth&#299 evidently began to be compiled with a view to making the writings of Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh which constitute a voluminous granth accessible to beginners and lay readers. No standardized selections exist, but the Das Granth&#299 in its current form issued under the seal of the Shiroma&#7751&#299 Gurdw&#257r&#257 Parbandhak Committee contains eight texts namely, J&#257pu, Shabad P&#257tsh&#257h&#299 10, Ak&#257l Ustati, Bachitra N&#257&#7789ak, Cha&#7751&#7693&#299 Charitra I, Cha&#7751&#7693&#299 Charitra II, Cha&#7751&#7693&#299 d&#299 V&#257r and Gi&#257n Prabodh. Das Granth&#299 is now available in several different recensions, but not without variations in selection.

A parallel compilation, Pañj Granth&#299 is also in existence that contains selections of b&#257&#7751&#299s from the &#256di Granth.
