<p class="C1">&#65279CHIR&#256<u>GH</u> D&#298N, FAQ&#298R (d. 1851), son of Faq&#299r Az&#299z ud-D&#299n, foreign minister to Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Ra&#7751j&#299t Si&#7749gh, was governor of Jasro&#7789&#257, a small principality in the &#346iv&#257lik hills, and was shortly afterwards placed in attendance on Prince Kha&#7771ak Si&#7749gh. In 1842, he succeeded his brother, Sh&#257h D&#299n, as the Sikh ruler's envoy (<i>vak&#299l</i>) at F&#299rozpur and continued in the same position with the Council of Regency formed after the first Anglo-Sikh war under the treaty of Lahore of 16 December 1846. Chir&#257<u>gh</u> D&#299n had five sons, the eldest of whom, Sir&#257j ud-D&#299n, became the chief minister at Bah&#257walpur where he met with a tragic end.</p>
<p class="C1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Ch&#299r&#257<u>gh</u> D&#299n died at Lahore in 1851.</p>
