The family shifted westward to Chakk No. 38 Niz&#257mpur Dev&#257 Si&#7749ghv&#257l&#257, in a newly colonized district. As he grew up, Chand&#257 Si&#7749gh, was influenced by the current of Sikh reformation then sweeping the Punjab. When a call came for a <i>Shah&#299d&#299 jath&#257</i>, martyrs' column, to proceed to Delhi to rebuild the demolished wall of Gurdw&#257r&#257 Rik&#257bgañj, Chand&#257 Si&#7749gh registered himself as a volunteer. He also attended the Dh&#257rov&#257li conference on 1-3 October 1920.
