<p class="C1">&#65279BISHAN SI&#7748GH (d. 1868) was like his father, Sult&#257n Si&#7749gh, in the Gho&#7771cha&#7771h&#257 regiment of Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Ra&#7751j&#299t Si&#7749gh. In Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Sher Si&#7749gh's time, he was placed in charge of the artillery park at Lahore. After the annexation of the Punjab by the British, Bishan Si&#7749gh joined the 2nd Punjab Irregular Cavalry raised in 1849, and received the rank of Ris&#257ld&#257r. During the uprising of 1857, he marched to Delhi with a squadron commanded by Sir Dighton Macnaghten Probyn and served his new masters with distinction. General Probyn writes of him : "He must have been in fifty fights; a braver man I never saw. He knew not what fear was, and delighted in danger. He was conspicuous for his gallantry on many occasions. " For his services, Bishan Si&#7749gh received the Order of Merit and was shortly afterwards appointed Ris&#257ld&#257r-Major of his regiment.</p>
<p class="C1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Bishan Si&#7749gh died in 1868.</p>
