Both husband and wife were the devoted Sikhs of Gur&#363 Hargobind. They were among the guests assembled to witness the nuptial ceremonies of S&#363raj Mall, son of Gur&#363 Hargobind. It was there that she, as says <i>Gurbil&#257s P&#257tsh&#257h&#299 Chhev&#299&#7749</i>, had had a glimpse of young Te<u>gh</u> Bah&#257dur who later occupied the holy office as the ninth Gur&#363 of the Sikhs. She felt charmed by the handsome face of the young man and was doubly pleased to learn that he was still un-affianced. She saw him as the prospective groom for her seven-year old daughter, Gujar&#299. She and her husband went to Gur&#363 Hargobind who willingly accepted the proposal.
