At the time of the death of Naw&#257b Zakar&#299y&#257 <u>Kh</u>&#257n, the Mu<u>gh</u>al governor of the Punjab, Bh&#363m&#257 Si&#7749gh's <i>jath&#257</i> was one of 25 roving bands of the Sikhs. Bh&#363m&#257 Si&#7749gh commanded a body of about 300 men.
