Originally a disciple of Bh&#257&#299 B&#299r Si&#7749gh of Naura&#7749g&#257b&#257d, he survived the attack on his, &#7693er&#257 on 7 May 1844 and went on a pilgrimage to N&#257nde&#7693. On his return to the Punjab, he joined Bh&#257&#299 Mah&#257r&#257j Si&#7749gh at Amritsar shortly before the latter went underground in June 1847 to escape arrest by the British in connection with the Prem&#257 conspiracy case. Bh&#257g Si&#7749gh escaped towards K&#257&#7749g&#7771&#257 and rejoined Bh&#257&#299 Mah&#257r&#257j Si&#7749gh before the beginning of the second Anglo-Sikh war in 1848. After the battle of Cheli&#257&#7749v&#257l&#257 he made a trip to Pesh&#257war, re-joining his leader at Dev Ba&#7789&#257l&#257, in the Jamm&#363 area. He was one of a delegation carrying letters from Bh&#257&#299 Mah&#257r&#257j Si&#7749gh to Bh&#257&#299 Nih&#257l Si&#7749gh and Bh&#257&#299 Kishan Si&#7749gh, who had a large following in the North West Frontier region, and to Sult&#257n Muhammad Kh&#257n, brother of Dost Muhammad Kh&#257n, the Am&#299r of K&#257bul. He reported back with their replies at Kur&#257l&#257 Kal&#257&#7749, in Hoshi&#257rpur district. From here he was sent to take charge of the group's camels in Jamm&#363. After the arrest of Bh&#257&#299 Mah&#257r&#257j Si&#7749gh, the police pursued Bh&#257g Si&#7749gh up to Jehlum but failed to capture him. Later on he accidentally fell into the hands of Major Lake at Pesh&#257war, and was tried and jailed.

BIBLIOGRAPHY

Ahluwalia, M.
