As he first visited Goindv&#257l, he carne loaded with books to demonstrate his learning. Gur&#363 Amar D&#257s spoke to him gently : "Mere learning begetteth pride. What aideth one is humility, love and devotion. " Pa&#7751&#7693it Be&#7751&#299, as says Sar&#363p D&#257s Bhall&#257, <i>Mahim&#257 Prak&#257sh</i>, had no desire left to show his skill in arguing. He bowed at the Gur&#363's feet and became a disciple.
