In 1831, he accompanied Ka&#7749var Sher Si&#7749gh and General Ventura to Pesh&#257war to put down the tumult raised by Sayyid Ahmad Barelav&#299. When in 1832 Ka&#7749var Sher Si&#7749gh was appointed governor of Kashm&#299r, D&#299w&#257n Bais&#257kh&#257 Si&#7749gh was attached to him as a special assistant. Owing to some complaints received against him, he was recalled to Lahore, tried for fraud, and fined 1, 25, 000 rupees. He regained the Darb&#257r's favour in 1835 and was given an assignment which took him to Pesh&#257war. In 1844, he earned the displeasure of R&#257j&#257 H&#299r&#257 Si&#7749gh, the prime minister, and fled Lahore to take refuge with Bh&#257&#299 B&#299r Si&#7749gh of Naura&#7749g&#257b&#257d.
