He saw plenty of fighting during his service career and took part in the campaigns of Sw&#257t, Pesh&#257war, Haz&#257r&#257 and Bann&#363. For long he served on the frontier and was for six years in charge of the forts of &#7692er&#257 Ism&#257'&#299l <u>Kh</u>&#257n and &#7788o&#7749k. He was with General Har&#299 Si&#7749gh Nalv&#257 in 1834 when the Sikhs took Pesh&#257war from the B&#257rakza&#299s. In 1845, he was stationed in Haz&#257r&#257 with the Ka&#7789&#257r Mukh&#299 Regiment. In 1846, he accompanied Major Henry Lawrence to Kashm&#299r where Shai<u>kh</u> Im&#257m ud-D&#299n was in revolt, and the next year went with Lieut. Herbert Edwardes to Bann&#363. He took part in the siege of Mult&#257n in 1848. During the uprising of 1857, the Fort of Mult&#257n, the magazine and the treasury were entrusted to Badr&#299 N&#257th's corps and he was granted Order of British India for his services in suppressing the rebellion.
